Gish was widely published in local, state and national professional journals. He also directed a mobile dental clinic, which traveled across the state to provide examination and treatment for school children. At one time, they had more schools that were fluoridated than any other state in the country. Under his instructions, Indiana became famous for its strong fluoride programs, and by the mid-1980s 93 percent of all Indiana residents used fluoridated water on the public water supply. He co-chaired the Department of Community Dentistry from 1969 to 1986 and was a full professor from 1977 to 1987.ĭr.
